MacBook for Students: Lease and Rent

Your laptop is the tool you use every day of your studies. JUUZ helps students get a MacBook without paying for it in one go. You can lease a new or refurbished MacBook over a fixed term, or rent a refurbished one by the month. Both are available to students, with support every day of the week and delivery by PostNL.

Why students choose a Mac

  • Light and easy to carry. A MacBook fits in a bag with your books, which matters when you move between the library, the lecture hall and the train.
  • A battery for the whole day. Modern MacBooks are built to get through a day of classes without looking for a socket.
  • It lasts. A MacBook keeps getting software updates for years, so the laptop you start with is still a good one in your final year.
  • It works with your iPhone and iPad. Notes, photos and files move between your devices through iCloud and AirDrop.

Which MacBook is best for a student?

The best MacBook for a student is the one that fully meets your needs. A MacBook is a great choice for studying: it is powerful, compact, well designed and built to last for years. It also comes with free apps that students use every day. Notes keeps your lecture notes in sync across your devices, scans documents, records a lecture with a live transcript and even works as a calculator: type an equation and it solves it, with variables and graphs. iMovie is there for free video editing, and for design and creative work, Adobe’s apps run well on a Mac. And with JUUZ you do not pay for it in one go: renting starts at €29 a month and leasing at €35.

For everyday coursework, the MacBook Air 13″ is the easy choice, and it is the lightest to carry. A MacBook Pro 14″ or MacBook Pro 16″ gives you a bigger screen and more power for video editing, design or larger datasets.

Check what your programme needs

Some programmes use software that only runs on Windows, and some creative or technical programmes advise a powerful laptop. Before you choose, read the hardware advice from your school or university. JUUZ knows the MacBook requirements of most colleges and universities and can suggest a suitable model. Not sure whether a MacBook fits your studies? Ask JUUZ support before you order.

Rent a MacBook as a student

Renting starts at €29 per month. You get a refurbished MacBook Air or MacBook Pro, from one month, and after that you pay month by month. You can cancel with one month’s notice.

  • Models. Choose from the Lite, Master, Pro and Expert versions.
  • Deposit. You pay a deposit of €99 to €299, depending on the model. You get it back after you return the MacBook.
  • Agreement. You sign online and pay by SEPA direct debit.
  • Upgrade or downgrade. Want to change the model you are renting? You can easily upgrade or downgrade, which is handy when your requirements change during your studies.
  • Ownership. The MacBook stays with JUUZ. You send it back when you are done.

Report damage, loss or theft within 24 hours. If a MacBook is lost or stolen, you pay an own-risk amount on top of the deposit.

All rental models are on the rent page.

Lease a MacBook as a student

Leasing starts at €35 per month. You pay a fixed amount every month over 24, 36, 48 or 60 months, depending on the model. When the contract ends, the MacBook is yours. There is no final payment and nothing to send back.

  • New models. Ordered directly from Apple: MacBook Air 13″ M4, MacBook Air 15″ M4, MacBook Pro 14″ M4 and MacBook Pro 16″ M4 Pro.
  • Refurbished models. MacBook Pro 13″ M1, MacBook Pro 14″ M5 and MacBook Pro 15″ Retina Touch.
  • Start payment. You pay a one-time €199 for all new models and for the refurbished MacBook Pro 14″ M5. For the refurbished MacBook Pro 13″ M1 and MacBook Pro 15″ Retina Touch it is €99. The start payment is part of the lease agreement and is not refunded.
  • Cancelling. A lease cannot be ended early, so choose a term that fits your studies.
  • Income and credit check. You need an income, for example from a part-time job. JUUZ runs a credit check, which usually takes up to 12 hours and never more than 24. The lease agreement is not registered with BKR.
  • Warranty. A new MacBook has a two-year warranty from the delivery date. It covers factory defects and hardware problems under normal use. Drops, liquid damage, software problems and cosmetic wear are not covered, so consider insurance against damage and theft.

All conditions are on the MacBook lease page.
